Overview
The LabTech MVP-48 Automatic Parallel Vacuum Concentrator is a high-throughput laboratory concentration system designed for rapid evaporation and volume reduction of multiple samples using controlled heating, vacuum, and vortex agitation.
With 48 independent sample positions, the MVP-48 can concentrate up to 48 samples simultaneously and accommodates either 60 mL sample vials or 50 mL centrifuge tubes. This configuration makes it particularly well suited to laboratories processing larger batches of relatively small-volume samples and allows centrifuge tubes to be incorporated directly into the sample-preparation workflow.
Vacuum concentration reduces solvent boiling temperatures, while the system's heated shaking bath continuously agitates the samples to increase the evaporation surface and promote efficient concentration. The MVP platform also incorporates solvent recovery and independent sample pathways designed to reduce the potential for cross-contamination between samples.

High-Throughput Sample Concentration
The defining advantage of the MVP-48 is its 48-position capacity. Unlike the MVP-12, which is designed around large-volume 900 mL samples, the MVP-48 is optimized for processing substantially more samples at smaller individual volumes.
The ability to use either 60 mL vials or 50 mL centrifuge tubes can also reduce sample transfers between concentration and subsequent laboratory processing steps.
Vacuum Concentration
The MVP series combines vacuum, controlled heating and agitation to accelerate solvent evaporation. Reducing system pressure lowers the solvent boiling point, allowing concentration to take place at lower temperatures—particularly useful when working with heat-sensitive samples.
The shaking bath creates vortex movement within each sample, increasing the exposed evaporation surface while continuously mixing the sample and helping prevent localized overheating.
Sample Isolation & Solvent Recovery
Each sample vessel uses an independent sealed discharge pathway, helping prevent liquid transfer, reflux and accidental cross-contamination between samples during concentration.
The MVP platform also incorporates solvent-vapor recovery. LabTech's current compact MVP architecture integrates the pump, condenser, waste bottle and controller into the vacuum module, reducing system footprint and simplifying the overall installation.
Applications
The MVP-48 is designed for high-throughput sample preparation across areas including:
Food testing — pesticide residues, additives, acids and extraction
Pharmaceutical analysis — API determination, extraction, contaminants and residues
Environmental analysis — SVOCs in soil, solid waste and atmospheric samples, including organochlorine residues and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons
Chemical testing — quality control involving plastics, petrochemicals, oils, fats and textiles

Important Configuration Information
The MVP-48 is designed specifically for 48-position small-volume batch processing. Customers requiring fewer, substantially larger samples should consider the MVP-12, which supports up to twelve 900 mL concentration cups.
